There are many steps involved in finding and hiring a local plumber. First, it’s a prudent first step to consult with family and friends. Is there anyone you know who’s used a plumber recently? If so, what kind of plumber? When investigating a referral for a good plumber, it is always a good idea to speak with multiple past customers. Try googling the plumber’s name for additional info, possibly even a legal history. Ask your friends what type of work he did for them – there’s a difference between a plumber who is brought in for repairs, and a plumber who conducts major remodeling and renovation projects. A plumber who is qualified for one might not be so experienced in the other. Some plumbers specialize in gas or pipe fitting, some also do HVAC work, for air conditioning installation and repair. There’s all types!
A good second step is to use one of many online referral systems, to compare free quotes, though with the understanding that it might not always be the best idea to go with the cheapest. Above all, do not be intimidated! Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
